About Cheryl

Hi! I’m Cheryl, a specialist History tutor with a doctorate (PhD) in History and extensive experience teaching at GCSE, A‑level and university level. I combine deep academic expertise with a highly supportive, exam‑focused teaching style that helps students build confidence, clarity and strong historical thinking. I completed my PhD at the University of East Anglia, where I also taught undergraduate seminars in early modern history, witchcraft, historical methodology, essay writing and research skills. Over the past several years, I have worked as a private tutor supporting GCSE, A‑level and university students across AQA, Edexcel and OCR, helping them strengthen content knowledge, improve essay structure and master exam technique. My background is rooted firmly in the humanities, with specialist expertise in early modern Europe, Tudor England, witchcraft, religion, social history and historiography. I bring both depth and breadth to my teaching: I understand how to break down complex ideas, guide students through challenging interpretations, and help them develop the analytical skills examiners look for. I am known for my clear explanations, structured approach and ability to adapt lessons to each student’s needs — whether they require confidence‑building, SEND‑friendly scaffolding, high‑level analytical challenge or targeted exam preparation. My goal is always the same: to help students feel capable, motivated and ready to achieve their best.
